Johanna,
Sorry I wasn't around this weekend. Not exactly a prosperous start for
this new relationship. Still, I feel it has promise. As I said I had
to work over time to get some of this curriculum planned. I'm beginning
with a little Faulkner which I'm sure will win your approval. Honestly,
I'd rather teach Hemmingway. Faulkner vs. Hemmingway is like a face off
between hyper-complexity and simplicity. Still, I trust your judgment.
We're reading Light in August as you suggested. I think this class on
twentieth century writers will be a good one. I'll definitely toss in
some Hemmingway at some point and, of course, Fitzgerald. Anyway, I
miss you over here. Tell Meagan hi. I'll probably try to get over there
by mid-week. And, Johanna, you've changed some of my biggest paradigms.
That's unprecedented and greatly appreciated. I'll see you soon.
